Neighbourhood Watch is the largest voluntary association of people in the country. It aims to keep members informed of any crimes of significance that have happened in their area.
In Horsham Neighbourhood Watch, moves have been afoot to modernise, improve and regenerate NHW by bringing NHW properly into the 'Information Age'. Horsham NHW also aims to attract many more younger members. As part of this plan local PCSOs have started Junior Neighbourhood Watch with Primary School children. And, in the villages of Broadbridge Heath, Warnham, Kingsfold and Rowhook there is now a sizeable NHW Facebook Group.
Horsham Neighbourhood Watch is a community safety organisation designed to promote community spirit within Horsham District. The idea is to improve community safety and reduce or prevent crime and anti-social behaviour by acting in a neighbourly manner by developing close liaison between households in a neighbourhood and the local police. It aims to help people protect themselves and their properties and to reduce the fear of crime by means of improved home security, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents to the police and by fostering a community spirit.
Objectives of Horsham Neighbourhood Watch
You can join Horsham NHW online if you would like to be part of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in your area. If there is an established scheme in your area we can put you in contact with the Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator. If there is no scheme in existence NHW can advise you and assist you to establish a scheme. Obviously, as the title suggests, Neighbourhood Watch relies on participation of the neighbours who live in an area, whether this is a close, a road or a block flats. "Communities working together to promote a safe place to live and work".
