Social networking - some reverse engineering

E-mail Print PDF

We recently introduced a system whereby articles (content) published to the Horsham CSP website was automatically streamed to our Facebook and Twitter pages. Publish once and have the article published in three places, (neat).

But what if this system could be reverse engineered so that other people's / organisation's Tweets could be streamed back to appear on our website? Result - we now have Sussex Police, the Police Helicopter team, and the Air Ambulance Team's Tweets on our Facebook and Twitter page. These will probably be the first of many such feeds. Very cool!

Thefts of hay and straw on the rise

The police have noticed a large rise in the number of thefts of hay and straw bales on account of the fact that there is a national shortage this year and prices have risen steeply.

Policing in the 21st Century: Reconnecting the Police and the People

E-mail Print PDF

HM Government recently published a consultation document entitled Policing in the 21st Century - Reconnecting to Police and the Public. This paper is centred around six key themes with proposals for the following:

  1. Electing policing and crime commissioners to hold police forces to account and strengthen the bond between the police and the public.
  2. A powerful new National Crime Agency to lead the fight against organised crime and strengthen our border security.
  3. Greater collaboration between police forces to increase public protection and save money.
  4. Phasing out the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA)
  5. Cutting bureaucracy, removing restrictive health and safety procedures and freeing up police officers' time
  6. A clear role for everyone, including members of the public, in cutting crime through beat meetings, neighbourhood watch schemes and voluntary groups.

The consultation runs until the 20 September and the results will form part of the new Police Reform and Social Responsibilty Bill.

The consultation paper can be accessed online via the Home Office website.

We love greener, cleaner and safer!

E-mail Print PDF

A good deal of work has been taking place behind the scenes at Horsham District's Community Safety Team to enable the residents of Horsham District to report more incidents, issues and problems online.

Firstly, in February we built ourselves this website - not just another website, but a Joomla! website, (as used by the UN, Harvard, HP and NASA, to name but a few). You may rest assured that if organisations like these choose Joomla! as their tool of choice for their website projects that there are many compelling reasons why they do so. Suffice to say that Joomla! is multi award winning CMS software, and, given these challenging economic times, Joomla! is open-source software and completely free for anyone to use - and then:

To mark our progress we now have a new logo and the whole website has suddenly gone green.

(If you are visiting our new website for the first time, please tell your friends about us - and ask them to tell their friends too)!

The work of the Horsham District Community Safety Partnership continues on your behalf.
